The Model Context Protocol (MCP) server is designed to scaffold student thinking by providing agent-first coaching tools, facilitating structured guidance without drafting.
Student Guide MCP (Agent-First Coaching)
Part of the LXD MCP Suite — a cohesive set of MCP servers for learning experience design (coaching, Kanban, stories, and optional LLM adapters).
What it is
Agent-first MCP stdio server that scaffolds student thinking without drafting. Your conversational agent calls tools to:
- suggest short probing questions and micro-actions per turn,
- validate tiny replies and reflect concise cues,
- upsert structured JSON (claim, reasons, sources, warrant) as state,
- synthesize a concrete Improvement Plan (checkpoints) when ready.
Why it helps
Keeps students in the driver’s seat: the agent guides process and structure, never writes prose. Works with or without on-box LLM tailoring.
Minimal MCP stdio server to scaffold student thinking (no drafting). Provides agent-first tools:
- guide_suggest_moves, guide_validate_reply, guide_upsert_structured/fields
- coaching flow (optional), plan generation, story export (optional)
Quickstart:
python3 mcp_server.py
Config:
- GUIDE_DB_PATH: path to SQLite (default .local_context/draftguide.db if present)
- GUIDE_USE_LLM=1: enable on-box LLM tailoring (optional; strict JSON, no drafting)
