Portainer MCP connects AI assistants to Portainer environments, allowing management of resources and execution of Docker or Kubernetes commands.

Portainer MCP is a Model Context Protocol (MCP) implementation for Portainer environments, designed to standardize the connection between Portainer's container management capabilities and AI models. MCP is an open protocol that facilitates the integration of AI models with various data sources and tools, similar to how USB-C standardizes device connections. This implementation allows AI assistants to securely interact with containerized infrastructure by exposing Portainer environment data through the MCP protocol. The project is under development and requires a Portainer administrator API token for operation.

Features

  • Standardized AI integration: Connects AI models to Portainer environments using the MCP protocol.
  • Secure interaction: Allows secure management of Portainer resources through AI assistants.
  • Tool customization: Users can customize tool definitions for AI model interactions.
  • Read-only mode: Provides a security feature to restrict operations to read-only.
  • Version support: Compatible with specific Portainer versions, ensuring reliable operation.
