What is fastMCP?

fastMCP is an MCP server scaffold focused on speed and simplicity. It exposes a small set of tools and services over the Model Context Protocol so AI assistants or inspector tools can discover and use them. Typical uses include:

  • Serving code-analysis and code-execution tools for code-assistant integrations.
  • Exposing runtime helpers (e.g., project introspection, docs-indexing).
  • Local/CI testing and prototyping of MCP-based assistants.

Features

  • Minimal, dependency-light MCP server implementation.
  • Tool registration and discovery endpoints.
  • Integration-ready for inspector tools (e.g., @modelcontextprotocol/inspector).
  • Configuration via environment variables or .env.
  • Optional TLS support for secure deployments.
  • Dockerfile and development convenience scripts.
