Unofficial OpenAlex API MCP Server
This is a small MCP server that helps AI clients such as Claude and Cursor query for scholarly works information from the OpenAlex API.
The server offers the following tools:
- Search Works: search for scholarly works with titles and abstracts matching a search query. Returns the top 5 documents.
- Get Paper: retrieve the details of a scholarly work by its OpenAlex ID.
These tools can be combined to automate tasks such as searching for relevant literature and writing the references section of a paper.
How to Use
You can setup the server by following the instructions for your favorite client. Here are some examples for Claude and Cursor.
