This is a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server for exposing API access to the USDA's FoodData Central API.

The Food Data Central MCP Server provides a structured interface to access the USDA's FoodData Central API. It allows users to search for foods, access detailed nutrient information, and retrieve paginated results. The server supports multiple data types, including Foundation, SR Legacy, Survey, and Branded. Designed to be run as a subprocess by an MCP client, it uses stdio transport for communication. The server can be integrated with platforms like Claude Desktop, enabling seamless access to food data through a user-friendly interface. Users can configure the server by setting up the USDA API key and adjusting the configuration file to include the server's command and environment variables.
