A Node.js server implementing the Model Context Protocol (MCP) to connect Cursor AI to GitHub. This server enables listing public repositories, creating issues, and fetching open issues from GitHub repositories via simple tool commands.
Features
- List Public Repos: List all public repositories for a given GitHub user.
- Create GitHub Issue: Create a new issue in a specified GitHub repository.
- List Open Issues: List all open issues in a specified GitHub repository.
Setup
- Clone the repository
git clone <your-repo-url> cd mcp-server-poc
- Install dependencies
npm install
- Set up environment variables
- Create a
.env
file in the root directory. - Add your GitHub personal access token:
GITHUB_TOKEN=your_github_token_here
- Create a
- Build the project
npm run build
- Run the server
node build/index.js
Usage
You can use this server with Cursor AI or any MCP-compatible client. Example tool prompts:
