The PopHIVE MCP Server provides access to comprehensive public health data from Yale School of Public Health, including immunizations, respiratory diseases, and chronic diseases, through standardized MCP tools and resources.
PopHIVE (Population Health Information Visual Explorer) is a platform developed by Yale School of Public Health that aggregates near real-time public health data from authoritative sources such as CDC surveillance systems, Epic Cosmos EHR networks, and Google Health Trends. The PopHIVE MCP Server exposes this data through a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server, allowing epidemiologists, researchers, and public health professionals to access and analyze comprehensive health surveillance data. The server is production-ready, with critical bugs fixed, enhanced error handling, and comprehensive dataset metadata included. It is also fully compliant with Anthropic's Desktop Extension (DXT) specification, enabling one-click installation in Claude Desktop and other MCP-enabled applications. Recent improvements include fixes to the geography filter, an enhanced search algorithm, improved error handling, and enriched dataset metadata. The server supports national, US, and state-level filtering, providing context-aware error messages and clear documentation of dataset capabilities.
